PURPOSE: To Improve symmetry of asymmetric distortion between side beams to obtain better quality for focusing by generating magnetic fields to give opposite correction for respective spot distortions to three electron beams. CONSTITUTION: Cross-sectional shapes of side beams are changed, in such a manner that cross-sectional shape of one side beam becomes more intense than the other side beam in degree of long or short sideways by disposing a pair of magnetic field generating members 11, 11', 12 and 12' at screen side ends, so as to sandwich each of side beams out of three electron beams from top and bottom to form a localized barrel-shaped magnetic field between the paired field generating members.
