PURPOSE: To provide a method by which a coated film excellent in opacifying properties even if the content of a coloring pigment of a hydrophilic coloring coating is small and the thickness of the film is thin, and having hardly reduced physical properties is provided in a bilayer coated film obtained by coating an organic solvent-type hydrophilic coating, a water based coloring coating and a clear coating. CONSTITUTION: This method for forming the bilayer coating film comprises coating (A) the organic solvent-type hydrophilic coating, (B) the water base coloring coating and (C) the clear coating on a material to be coated, and heating the coated materials to harden the coated film, and the method is characterized in that the hydrophilic coating A contains a neutralized product of a carboxyl group-containing resin having 5-100 acid value, a curing agent, an aluminum powder having <= 20 μm average particle diameter, and the coloring pigment, and the content of the aluminum powder is regulated so as to be 0.1-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. resin solid components.
