[Also in Division D1] A cord for reinforcing pneumatic tyres and comprising six spaced apart strands 2 in contact with a stranded core 1, is characterized in that each of the wires of the core 1 has a diameter dl that falls within the range 0À12 mm. to 0À25 mm. and that the number of wires in the core is greater than the number of wires in a strand 2. In Fig. 1 the core 1 has five wires each of a diameter dl of the order of 0À2 mm., and each outer strand 2 has three wires each of a diameter d2 of the order of 0À22 mm. Fig. 2 (not shown) is the same as Fig. 1 except that d1 equals the aforesaid value of d2. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the core has four wires each of a diameter of the order of 0À24 mm., and each outer strand has three wires each of a diameter of the order 0À22 mm.</p> |
