The vehicle floor (10), consisting of a central tunnel (18) and side boxes (20) with fixing members (13, 15) for seats (14) and flat floor sections (16) between, has one or more transverse stiffeners (34) between each box and the top of the tunnel to transmit forces in the event of a side impact. The stiffeners can be fixed to the tunnel and boxes directly or to the seat fixing members, and are in the form of straight tubular bars of a magnesium alloy which can be welded at an angle to the corresponding components. |
