PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient on-vehicle information acquiring device capable of providing a user with a town map (map information) including a new present position of a vehicle easily in a short time if the present position of the vehicle gets out of an area shown by another town map and capable of increasing the comfort of the user when it is used. SOLUTION: This on-vehicle information acquiring device 1 is mounted on the vehicle and acquires information from an information supply center 10 (an information supply source) via a communication network. A CPU 2 of the device 1 is equipped with a first map information acquiring means for acquiring the new town map of an area including the new present position of the vehicle from the supply center 10 if the present position of the vehicle gets out of the area shown by the town map of the vicinity of the present position of the vehicle acquired from the supply center 10.
