Method and tool for taking high temperature gas samples which can be used to control chemical operations using a thermally insulated gas sealed syringe

Gas sampling system has a sealed syringe (15) having a body in which there is a piston (30). A hollow needle (20), communicating with the interior of the body, is fixed to one of its ends. Thermal insulation (28) surrounds the syringe (15). A thermally insulated (14) heating container (12) receives the syringe. the thermal insulation incorporates heating elements which are used to heat the body of the syringe and the syringe container. Method for taking gas samples: (a) preheat syringe to a temperature between /! 10 degrees with the expected temperature of the sample; introduce needle into the gas to be sampled and analyzed; withdraw the piston a set distance to obtain a gas sample of specific volume; withdraw the needle from the gas; place the syringe in the heating container to maintain the gas sample temperature; preheat the syringe and container to a temperature equivalent to that when the sample was taken; analyze the sample.
