PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint input device, with which a cause is specified and the contents of that cause and/or measures to that cause are announced to a user when a fingerprint reading defect occurs. SOLUTION: This fingerprint input device is provided with a fingerprint sensor for reading a fingerprint and outputting fingerprint image data corresponding to the fingerprint, a fingerprint analytic part 3 for analyzing the quality of a fingerprint image shown by the fingerprint image data and generating the evaluated result expressing the cause of a quality defect and/or measures to the cause when the analyzed result shows the quality defect, and an evaluated result display part 2 for displaying the evaluated result.
