METHOD OF WATCHING PERFORMANCE OF LUBRICATING OIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of watching the change in the characteristics of lubricating oil directly to detect the state of deterioration of the oil. SOLUTION: In this method, pressure-viscosity coefficient which represents forming ability of oil film is measured, and the degradation of the lubricating oil can be watched by the change in pressure-viscosity coefficient against the time elapsed, the relation of which is previously determined through an experiment. Accordingly, one can watch the performance of lubricating oil directly from the relation between degradation of the lubricating oil and pressure- viscosity coefficient obtained by the experiment.
