PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for separating serum or plasma which is uniformly mixed and efficiently produced, by preventing the non-uniform dispartion of a powdery substance like fine powder silica causing the flow or phase separation of the composition due to the lowering of the thixotropic properties thereof, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The respective constituents of a composition for separating serum or plasma are supplied to a mixing device 10, which consists of a mixing part 5, which is provided with a suction port 4 and a discharge port 5 discharging the constitutes of the composition in a direction crossing the direction of suction for the suction port at right angles, and a stirrer 3 having a large number of blades 3a, of which the rotary shaft is rotatable in parallel to the sucking direction, so as to be forcibly passed through the gaps between the stirring blades 3a by the rotatation of the stirrer 3 to be uniformly mixed.
