PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable-reluctance type angle detector which is lightweight and low-cost and enables the removal of higher harmonic components, the improvement of precision, and machine winding. SOLUTION: The variable-reluctance type angle detector has an exciting coil 4 and (n)-phase output coils 6 and 7 in slots 2 of a stator 1 and a rotor 5 which is provided rotatably around the stator 1, is so shaped that the gap permeance to the stator 1 varies in a sine wave shape with an angleθ, and has only a magnetic member and no coil; and the exciting coil 4 has poles a half as many as magnetic poles 3 and the n-phase output coils 6 and 7 are so wound so that the distribution of voltages induced at the output coils 6 and 7 for each phase of the output coils 6 and 7 is a sine-wave distribution.
