PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a paper money storage device which stores paper monies thrown in a money exchanger, an automatic vending machine, etc. SOLUTION: A paper money discriminating device comprises a main body, a front door which opens and closes an opening part provided to the main body, a paper money storage safe which stores paper monies, and a paper money carrying means which carries received paper monies in the paper money storage safe, which is supported on the main body movably in the horizontal direction. When paper monies stored in the paper money discriminating device are collected, the front door is opened and the paper money storage safe is moved horizontally to collect only the paper monies or collected as it is.
