Production of an active anti-aging agent for skin comprises grinding wheat to a flour, dissolving at least 80 g/l in water, hydrolyzing using proteases, separating the soluble and insoluble phases, concentrating the active fraction and filtering. Independent claims are included for the obtained active agent comprising more than 50, especially 90-110 g/l dry materials, a pH of 2-10, especially 6.5-7.5, a protein content of 50-200 (70-100) g/l and a main mol. wt. of 15,000 daltons, a cosmetic composition containing the agent and a skin treatment process using the composition.
