PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device, with which a picked-up image can be evaluated. SOLUTION: The image discriminating function of this device is provided with a figure detecting means 132, an object detecting means 134, a composition comparing means 142 and an image evaluating means 144. The figure detecting means 132 extracts the position information or the like of a human figure included in the picked-up image as feature information. The object detecting means 134 extracts the position information or the like of an object such as line segment or object from the picked-up image as feature information. The composition comparing means 142 compares the feature information with prescribed composition data and on the basis of the compared result provided by the composition comparing means 142, the image evaluating means 144 evaluates the picked-up image. This evaluation can be displayed from a display unit or can be outputted in voice from a voice output unit as well so as to be immediately reported to a user.
