PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly perform Z-sort of complicated overlapped polygons concerning a device and a method for processing image, with which the image data of overlapped polygons are generated. SOLUTION: This device has a pixel sorter 26 for Z-sorting for the unit of a pixel and synthesizing units 30-38. After pixel data are generated from polygons, in the pixel sorter 26, the data are sorted for the unit of a screen pixel by sort circuits 53-1 to 53-n. The sort circuit is constituted by serially connecting the plural stages of arithmetic circuit composed of a comparator and a register. Since sorting is performed for the unit of a screen pixel, Z-sort of the pixels of complicated overlapped polygons can be exactly performed. Further, since the sort circuit is constituted by serially connecting plural stages of arithmetic circuit composed of the comparator and the register, sorting can be easily performed at high speed. |
