PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always fix the sensitivity of a microphone in the direction of a photographic subject to remove unwanted background noise during recording and to detect the direction of a camera part, with respect to a portable picture recorder where the camera part and a main body part having a display part are freely coupled rotatably. SOLUTION: A first microphone 22 is attached to the same part as for a camera part 21 in a rotating camera setting part 2, to make the direction of the camera and that of the microphone coincide with each other. A second microphone 31 is attached to a display part 34 of a main part 3 to obtain a voice signal in the direction opposite to the first microphone 22, and a signal to be the background noise is evaluated from an input signal of the second microphone 31 and is subtracted from an input signal of the first microphone so as to remove the background noise. By comparing input signal levels of the first microphone 22 and the second microphone 31 with each other, the direction of the camera is detected.
