PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily take a paper money safe out of a paper money storage device only by drawing the safe out horizontally. SOLUTION: The paper money storage device 10 has a controller 2 fitted at the upper part in a case 1 and a stacker device 3 and a paper money safe 4 at the lower part and the paper money safe 4 can be attached and detached by moving along a guide part 3a of the stacker device 3. A rod type depression member 9 is projected between a paper money pressure member 4a of the paper money safe 4 and a detecting movable member 6 which rotates on a support shaft and an optical detection sensor 7 are arranged on the bottom surface of the stacker device 3. When paper monies pressed in the paper money safe 4 by the stacker device 3 reaches a specific number, the depression member 9 which moves together with the pressure member 4a comes into contact with the detecting movable member 6 and rotates it, and its end part enters the detection sensor 7 and is detected.
