PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel for use in cathode ray tubes, which can obtain a screen close to a flat face, by virtue of a modification of inner and outer surface curvatures of the panel, and which can be reduced in break due to a heat impact in a furnace, by virtue of an artificial change of a compression stress distribution of the panel. SOLUTION: A display panel 10 for use in cathode ray tubes is disclosed, which has an outer surface of a substantially planar shape and an inner surface of a prescribed curvature. In this panel 10, assuming part T1 is a thickness of the central portion 10b of the panel 10 and T2 is the thickness of the corner portion of the panel 10, a difference in thickness between both portions satisfies the range of 1.7<=T2/T2<=2.3, and a compression stress of the outer surface of the panel 10 satisfies the range of 6.0 MPa<=|σ|<=15.0 MPa.
