PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely monitor the computer of a loosely-coupled system in a multiplex general computer system at high speed. SOLUTION: Concerning the multiplex general computer system composed of plural general computers in a system configuration, with which general computers 1 and 2 are connected by a LAN and both the computers and a system monitoring device 12 are connected by serial transmission, or in a system configuration, in which the general computers 1 and 2 and the system monitoring device 12 are connected by the LAN, a system monitoring device is provided separately for the computers 1 and 2, operating information is transmitted from each of computers to the system monitoring device in a fixed cycle and when the operating information is not received from the computer 1 within the fixed cycle, in the system monitoring device, abnormality in the computer 1 is judged. Then, a stop command is transmitted to the computer 1, system backup occurrence information is transmitted to the computer 2, and configuration control processing inside the computer 2 is performed.
