PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning device which facilitates the drawing of a reference surface on a housing side at the time of the releasing of the housing having been molded by devising the optical-axis directional abutting surface (reference part) on an imaging optical element side for the reference surface of a position restriction member molded integrally when the housing is molded as to the supporting of an imaging optical element such as an imaging lens. SOLUTION: This optical scanning device has a light source, a deflector which deflects the luminous flux from the light source, an imaging optical system having an imaging optical element for imaging the deflected luminous flux on a photosensitive body to make a scan, and a resin-made housing which holds constituent components of the imaging optical system, and when the housing is molded, a position restriction member which restricts the position in the optical axis direction is formed integrally. The imaging optical element is characterized by that its reference part which restricts the position in the direction of rotation on an axis parallel to the main scanning direction is held in contact with the reference part of the position restriction member on the housing side while the position in the optical axis direction is made different above and below a subscanning direction.
