PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power-saving system and method for a W-CDMA terminal where the current consumption of its battery can be saved in a standby state and also the traffic for position registration can be reduced. SOLUTION: The power-saving system for the W-CDMA terminal, where a plurality of base stations transmits a radio wave to the terminal in its standby state, is provided with a power-saving mode setting section 2A that selects only one reception base station among a plurality of the base stations so as to save the current consumption of the battery in the standby state and with a perch channel detection section 9 that receives radio waves from a plurality of the base stations and stops detection of base stations when detecting a base station whose reception level is highest as the reception base station set by the power-saving mode setting section. |
