PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sealing performance of a sealing apparatus to strengthen the return action of a sealing fluid by pumping effect. SOLUTION: The sealing apparatus comprises a ring core bar 10 that is inlaid and fixed in a case 2 and a sealing member 40 attached to the bar 10 having a lip 41a that osculates with an outer periphery of a rotating shaft 3. Then plural spiral grooves 50, 60 are formed at a contact peripheral face 41a of the lip 41 of the member 40 so as not to cross with each other and in a state of an equipartition in the peripheral direction. By this, the channel length of each spiral groove 50, 60 formed at the contact peripheral face 41a of the lip 41 is shortened and then the sealing fluid received in the spiral grooves 50, 60 is returned earlier than a usual case. |
