PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable for a storage battery, which prevents generation of a short circuit in a car body caused by the battery and protects a passenger from receiving an electric shock, when the car body is covered with seawater or sunk into a sea. SOLUTION: Disclosed herein is a cable in which an opening portion 5 is formed at one or more sites of an insulating portion 2 covering a conducting portion 3. The conducting portion 3 adjacent to the opening portion 5 is made of a metal, which is soluble in seawater. Also, a connecting terminal 4 disposed at the top of the conducting portion 3 is made of a metal that is soluble in seawater.
