PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical disk device capable of performing a stable tracking control by preventing the decrease of the control gain of a tracking servo loop even for an optical disk with narrow track pitch. SOLUTION: In a disk reproducing device, the information regarding the track pitch is detected by a track pitch detecting means 7 prior to the tracking control using a tracking error signal 4. And, the gain of a GCA 8 is set in accordance with the detected track pitch. Thus, the stable tracking control can be attained without lowering the control gain of the tracking servo loop even when the track pitch is narrower than that of the disk specification.
