PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk for detecting a head position and a method for detecting the head position using the disk which precisely and easily detect the head position in the tangential direction of the central line of a spindle motor in a disk device. SOLUTION: Scratches 4, 5 for locally causing a change in reproducing signals are formed on recording loci 2, 3 recorded on the disk 1 for detecting the position in the reproducing state by the head. The time until the local change is caused after motor index signals are detected are respectively measured in both recording loci 2, 3, and the tangential distance of the head gap is calculated and detected based on the time difference.
