PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TS multiplex transmitter and receiver and a transmission system, where the configuration of the receiver does not require a PLL circuit and a buffer memory in a digital broadcast system that multiplexes a plurality of programs and transmits/receives the multiplexed program. SOLUTION: A slot selection/NULL replacement section 23 of the receiver 2 selects one transport stream from among multiplexed transport streams after demodulation (Figure 2 (a)), according to the control of a frame synchronization/ control information demultiplex section 22. The slot selection/NULL replacement section 23 replaces packets other than each TS packet of the selected transport stream with a NULL packet (hatched parts in Figure 2b), to extract a single transport stream (Figure 2 (b)). Thus, the selected single transport stream can be extracted without conducting velocity conversion processing.
