<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer voice by low bit-rate encoding through the use of a waiting time which is reduced by an ATM cell. SOLUTION: The header of a standard ATM cell divided into a plurality of segments or parts is also made to be the header of the first part of the division cell, and also the header structure of the parts in order in the cell is made to be the same as that of a standard ATM cell header. A VPI/PCI value, included in the specified position of the first part header, normally identifies an ATM connection an VPI/VCI included in the specified position of the successive part header, after the first part identifies each related sub-flow. A standard ATM network switch converts the VPI/VCI of the first part header of the cell to redirect (rewrite of an address) the cell, gives the access of the header concerning all the parts of the cell and also converts the VPI/VCI values into each sub-flow identifier.</p> |
