SYSTEM AND METHOD TO ACCESS INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH TELEVISION BROADCASTING ON INTERNET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interactive television system that allows a user to retrieve its own desired information from the Internet and serves the desired information to the user through the interaction with the user. SOLUTION: The user utters a request in a natural language to a voice controllable system including a voice recognition section and a natural language syntax analysis section and the syntax analysis section extracts semantic contents from the user's voice on the basis of a plurality of oriented grammars. A retrieval engine command section simultaneously activates a plurality of retrieval engines in response to the extract result and the results obtained from a plurality of the retrieval engines are filtered on the basis of information extracted by an electronic program guide and user profile data stored in advance. The results are displayed on a screen or indicated via a synthesized voice. The system preferably includes a fixed grammar and a grammar that can be updated or downloaded and the system can be used without the need for learning due to system extension and permits a capability compatible with a specific purpose of users.
