The socket (2) has at least one front plate, in which at least two plug-in openings (15,16) for the pins of a plug. The front plate is flat in the opening area. A lock unit moves between locked and released positions and has devices co-operating with the plug pins, so that when a plug is inserted in the socket openings, the lock unit is released. A bias unit returns the lock unit to its locked position when the plug is removed. An Independent claim is included for a mobile multiway socket.
