The filter device includes a regenerating air filter (17) for adsorbing noxious substances and air flaps (19) for switching over the air flows in the filter segments. Each filter segment (171-176) is housed in a filter shaft (181-186) open at the ends and permeated by air. The filter shafts adjoin one another parallel to the air flow direction and their one end side openings (20) are covered by an inflow channel (15) and their other end side openings (21) are covered by an outflow channel (16). Each end opening has an associated air flap for selectively opening and shutting off the openings and each filter shaft is connected through shaft wall recesses to a first air channel (25) and second air channel of which one opens into the atmosphere and the other can be biased with incoming air. The recesses (23, 24) are arranged so that they can be closed by the air flaps when these are open to release the end openings of the filter shafts.
