PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for a complicated control mechanism for a separating claw member and to avoid damage to the top surface of a peeling roll. SOLUTION: This image forming material removing device 10 peels off an image forming material 21 from a recording medium 2 by pressing the recording medium 2 on the peeling roll 1 by a press-contact member 3 and sticks it on the peeling roll 1. Here, a gap 42 is formed between the peeling roll 1 and an abutting part 41 of a separating claw member 4 which is arranged in a freely swingable state opposite the peeling roll 1 and energized toward the peeling roll 1 to separate the recording medium 2 from the peeling roll 1 by forming projection parts 5 at both the width-directional ends of the abutting part 41.
