PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent a cartridge chamber cover from being inadvertently opened even when the position of a lens barrel can not be detected because trouble is caused in a means for detecting the position of a lens barrel. SOLUTION: A device for performing the locking and the release of the locking of the cartridge chamber cover within the moving range of the lens barrel is provided with lens barrel driving control means (S203 and S204) for driving the lens barrel in a direction where the cartridge chamber cover is locked at the time of detecting abnormality while driving the lens barrel at least in a direction where the locking the cartridge chamber cover is released.
