DISTANCE ESTIMATION DEVICE AND DISTANCE ESTIMATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the distance with a target by use of one TV camera. SOLUTION: Only an illumination 4 is lighted by an illumination control part 3b to take the image of the target 1 by the TV camera 2. Only an illuminating 5 is lighted by the illumination control part 3b to take the image of the target 1 by the TV camera 2. Further, the image of the target 1 after extinguishment of the illuminations 4 and 5 is taken by the TV camera 2. The brightness of each taken image is determined by an image capture part 3a, and the distance between the TV camera 2 and the target 1 is determined from the brightness.
