A method for the production of a bone cement, is new. Production of a bone cement comprises mixing: (1) 15-50% by weight (wt.%) monomer-free polymethyl methacrylate (I) (average molecular weight 3000-200000 Dalton, acid number 10-350 mg KOH/g polymer) with biocompatible organic solvent(s) (II) for (I); and (2) stirring in 3-30 wt.% biocompatible powder (III) containing zinc and 0.05-80 wt.% bioceramic material (IV) (particle size 0.5-400 mu m) at 10-50 deg C to give a fluid mixture with an open working life of 1-20 minutes. An Independent claim is also included for a bone cement kit containing: (1) 15-50 wt.% (I); (2) 10-40 wt.% (II); (3) 30-30 wt.% (III); and (4) 0.05-80 wt.% (IV). In which (I) and (II) are packed separately and (III) and (IV) are packed separately or as a mixture.
