<p>In an image reproducing device (1), reverse reproduction is ordered, reproduction image data for one picture produced in time series by an MPEG video decoder (5) is inputted into an MPEG video encoder (6), and re-encoded into only an I picture or a combination of an I picture and a B picture. An MPEG video decoder (7) reads the re-encoded data stream in the reverse order of time series, decodes it, and displays a smooth reverse-order reproduction picture. If necessary, an amount-of-data reducing circuit for lowering the resolution and an amount-of-data restoring circuit for restoring the resolution are inserted. Thus reverse reproduction excellent in operability, cost advantage, and mounting area is realized.</p> |
