METHOD FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF OLEFINS

The invention relates to a process for producing olefins, comprising the following steps: a) oxidation of an aliphatic hydrocarbon component to give the corresponding alcohol, b) dehydration of the alcohol to produce the corresponding olefin. The invention is further related to a process for oxidating aliphatic hydrocarbons wherein a linear or branched aliphatic C4-C40 hydrocarbon is fed as a stream (1) into a separation zone (A) and removed therefrom as a side stream (3), an oxidating agent (4) being added to said side stream (3) and the mixture obtained being passed into the reaction zone (B), or the oxidating agent being directly added into the reactor, and thereafter, the reactor product is circulated from the reactor within a stream (7) back to the reaction zone (A), in which it is recovered as the bottom product (8). The invention is moreover directed to a process for dehydrating alcohols to produce olefins, wherein said alcohol is passed as a stream (8) into the separation zone (D) and passed therefrom as a side stream (10) into a reaction zone (E), and then the products of the reactor are passed into a gas separation zone (F), in which the gaseous products are separated as a stream (12) from the reactor products being circulated as a distillate stream (13) back to the zone (D). In the process, a primary or secondary alcohol is preferably dehydrated by means of a zirconia/support catalyst prepared with atomic layer epitaxial technique.
