A device for the intermittent measurement of particle size distributions with particle sizes of less than 1 mu m by cumulative centrifugal force sedimentation in a centrifugal rotor, for increasing the measuring range to particularly small particles coupled with the highest degree of accuracy and reproducibility of analysis is characterized by a cylindrical centrifugal rotor (10), which is flat on the inside and held in a rotor (2) which is flat on the outside, consisting of two disc-shaped side walls (11, 12) perpendicular to an axis of rotation and a resilient strip-shaped peripheral wall (20), one peripheral end of which is fixed to the side walls (11, 12) and the other peripheral end of which can be deflected in the radial direction and displaced in the peripheral direction under the action of particles depositing of the suspension on the peripheral wall, and by a measuring device for continuous determination of the radial deflection and/or of the peripheral displacement of the free peripheral end of the peripheral wall (20) during rotation of the centrifugal rotor (1). The strip-shaped peripheral wall (20) is expediently designed so as to be U-shaped in cross-section and has a web (21, 22) on both sides projecting radially inwards.
