PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive which is simple, easy to assemble, and good in cost effect. SOLUTION: The disk drive has a linear actuator equipped with an off-center carriage assembly. A balance weight aligns the force lines of the actuator with the center of the mass of the carriage assembly. The carriage assembly includes a carriage housing. The carriage housing is an insert molding component and the balance weight and a coil joined with it. Two rod holders are located on the chassis of the drive. A carriage has a bearing with which the carriage is mounted on a carriage support rod and an outrigger rod. Those rods are mounted on the rod holders.
