摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make power consumption smaller, to make a driving voltage lower, to make leakage light emission smaller and to make a display tube thinner in a fluorescent display tube in which control electrodes and anode electrodes coated with phosphor are disposed to face oppositely across a filament. SOLUTION: In this display tube, electrons are prevented from being released from a filament 33 by applying negative potentials to control electrodes 351 to 355. In this state, for example, when a positive potential is applied to the control electrode 353, a part which is received the effect of the negative potential of the electrode 353 till now in the filament 33 becomes to receive the effect of the positive potential. As a result, the prevention of the electron release of that part of the filament is released and then electrons are released. Then, the released electrons reach an electrode on which a positive potential is being applied among 5 pieces of confronting anode electrodes 363.
