Fuel supply regulation for engine with variable cam phase pre-calculates cam phase and modifies basic fuel injection volume dependent upon that cam phase

The regulation process consists of four steps. In a first stage, a basic fuel volume for injection into the engine during a coming combustion stroke is calculated. In a second stage, a cam phase, which will be active during that combustion stroke, is calculated. In a third stage, the fuel volume is modified based on the estimated cam phase, and a fourth stage, fuel is injected into the engine for the coming combustion stroke based on the modified volume size.
