<p>Composns. contg. a urea, (pref. Benzomarc (I)) and Metachlore (II) have enhanced selective pre-emergence herbicidal activity, being useful for crops of cotton, beans, soya and maize. (where R, R' = lower alkyl, and the phenyl and benzoyl gp. on (I) may be substd by e.g. halogen, alkyl or CF3. (I): (II) is 1:10 to 1 beta: 1 pref. 1:2. In an example, mixtures of (I) and (II) were sprayed onto soil seeded with contton, beans soys and maize, and with various weed species. After 5 weeks a 1: 1 mixture applied at 3kg/ha gave 100% kill of weeds and had no effect on the crops.</p> |
