METHOD FOR MANAGING LINEAR DEFECT REPLACEMENT

PURPOSE: A method for managing linear defect replacement is provided to record only a non-defective region in re-writing by assigning a writing area linearly replaced with a defect area to the original position and to continuously write and regenerate real-time data on a recording medium having linear replacement function based on non-real time data. CONSTITUTION: A defect part(D1) is assigned to the position the same as a defect replacement part(D2). To manage linear defect replacement, the occurrence of a defect is decided during regeneration and the position where a defect occurs is stored. By referring to the defective position, a defective region position and a defective region correction position are written as the same position in the information for linear replacement. A specific data region written on a recording medium having linear replacement defect management function is deleted. The linear replacement defect information is updated with slipping replacement defect information. If the data as much as a specific area are deleted, the defect position of linear replacement information is set up as slipping replacement defect position.
