PURPOSE: A device for recording/reproducing digital data is provided to detect block data converted into frequency ranges with block units, so as to solve a nonlinearity problem with a high density recording as well as operating in a much lower clock frequency and to increase a recording rate of pure information bits in accordance with reduction in surplus bits. CONSTITUTION: The first serial to parallel converter(42) converts a digital signal, which is externally applied, in parallel. A compensator(43) compensates the converted digital signal. A recording control signal generator(44) inputs the compensated signal, and generates a recording control signal. A storage(50) stores the compensated signal in response to the recording control signal. An analog to digital converter(70) reads the signal recorded in the storage(50), and converts the read signal into a digital signal. The second serial to parallel converter(72) converts the converted digital signal in parallel. A frequency range converter(76) converts the converted parallel signal into a frequency range signal. A detector(78) detects the digital signal, which is externally applied, from the frequency range converted signal.
