The power transmission has first and secondary planetary transmissions (8, 10) to provide for forward and one reverse gears. The planetary transmissions include sunwheels (16, 20), planet carriers (e.g. 22) and annular gear wheels (18, 24). The first planet carrier is fixed to the second annular gear wheel to function as the initiating elements. The first sunwheel, second planet carrier and second sunwheel are connected to an input shaft linked to the engine via a torque converter.
