<p>A process is provided, by which pyrroloazepine derivatives expected to be useful as drugs can be obtained easily at a low cost on an industrial scale in the form of optically active substances requisite to drugs. Specifically, a process for production of optically active pyrroloazepine derivatives of the general formula (I) [wherein Z is optionally substituted phenyl], which comprises the step of conducting asymmetric reduction of a precursor ketone with a combination of a metal hydride and an alcohol in the presence of an optically active cobalt complex catalyst and the step of purifying the obtained product.</p> |
