PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided to apply electric fields to liquid crystal molecules to rotate in three dimension and compensate incident light by adjacent liquid crystal columns having opposite rotation directions, thereby increasing the transmissivity while maintaining the wide viewing angles. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display includes a pair of substrates(50,60) facing to each other, a pair of polarization plates(45,55) attached to outer surfaces of the substrates, two or more transparent electrodes(70) formed on the substrate to have vertical electric fields larger than horizontal electric fields, and liquid crystal(65) injected between the substrates and having positive or negative dielectric anisotropy.
