METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THERMAL PRINTING

A rotary printer 10 is provided with a stepping motor 15 and a thermal head 11, etc. The stepping motor 15 rotates a disk print medium M about its axis, which disk print medium has a heat-sensitive coloring layer which is colored when thermal energy is applied. The thermal head 11 extends in the radial direction of the disk print medium M so as to be opposed to the medium M. The rotary printer 10 performs printing on the thermal record medium M by coloring a plurality of pixel areas of a surface of the thermal record medium M which are arranged in the circumferential and radial directions thereof by selectively supplying heat to the pixel areas. A small-size thermal printing apparatus capable of printing of high-quality images on the disk print medium can thus be realized. <IMAGE>
