1283056 Hauling logs MASSEY-FERGUSON Inc 10 Sept 1969 [13 Sept 1968] 44701/69 Headings B8B and B8H A log lifting and towing vehicle comprises an arch structure 40 over which a log towing cable 64 passes, the arch being arcuately adjustable between positions A, B, C to suit the towing conditions. The frame 12 of the vehicle includes wing plates 20 between which extends an arcuate butt plate 18 on which are slidably mounted a pair of arcuate plates 38 supporting the arch 40 therebetween, sets of apertures in the plate 18 being provided to align with apertures in the plates 38 for a bolted connection over the arch position has been adjusted. The plates 38 are located for correct aperture alignment by stops 78, 82 for arch positions B and C, and by bolts inserted in additional apertures in the plate 18, for the position A. The cable 64 normally extending from a winch 60 over a sheave 54 on the arch 40 and out to a log, is connected directly between the winch and a butt plate 58 on the arch 40 for lifting and lowering the arch into its new position. Rollers 56 on the arch 40 at each side of the sheave 54, facilitate lateral hauling by the cable 64, the log being hauled in until it abuts the plates 18 and 58, after which it is towed. |
