The invention relates to a device and to a method for the (vibro) acoustic monitoring of an industrial and/or manufacturing process (2) with at least one signal detection device (10, 11, 12, 13) that detects airborne or structure-borne sound signals and digitally processes them in monitoring devices (6). The aim of the invention is to reduce the costs for the signal detection device required for such a method. To this end, the signal detection device (10, 11, 12, 13) is a knock sensor.
