DETECTOR FOR BREAKAGE OF STRAND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and inexpensive detector capable of surely detecting the breakage of wire(s) constituting a strand. SOLUTION: This detector is characterized by having a range finder set on the exit side of the lay port of a strander and also in close proximity to the outer circumference of a strand obtained by the strander and enabling the direct distance to the strand to be measured, a pulley rotation-type speedometer set behind the range finder, and an arithmetic unit/recorder capable of arithmetic processing of the outer circumferential shape of the strand through receiving speed signals given by the above speedometer and distance signals given by the above range finder and also capable of continuously recording the resultant outer circumferential shape.
