TOROIDAL TYPE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION FOR FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a structure that can lighten a four-wheel drive vehicle as its center differential gear is dispensed with and can raise the degree of freedom in arrangement of members and facilitate the design of the four-wheel drive vehicle. SOLUTION: A torque converter 39, a forward/backward movements switching unit 42 and a toroidal type continuously variable transmission unit 40 are arranged in series to the direction of power transmission. A hydraulic loading device is installed on the opposite side of the forward/backward movements switching unit 42. Both of a first and a second output side disks 34, 37 constituting the toroidal type continuously variable transmission unit 40 support the mutually independent rotation freely. The first output side disk 34 rotates and drives a driving shaft 51 for front wheels and the second output side disk 37 rotates and drives a driving shaft 52 for rear wheels, respectively.
